National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Executive Director Ricardo Jalad admitted that their situation is difficult now where apart from the COVID-19 pandemic, typhoons have hit some parts of the country.

Usec said. Jalad, evacuation centers set up by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and local government units (LGUs) have been temporarily turned into isolation or quarantine facilities.

According to Usec. Jalad, this is the reason why there are only a few evacuation centers that can be brought to the people affected by the flooding caused by the typhoon.

Usec assured. Jalad strictly enforces social distancing in evacuation centers.

The official also appealed to LGUs to use other facilities such as covered courts, multi-purpose halls and gyms to temporarily bring compatriots who will be affected by bad weather.

When it comes to relief goods, it is said that even non-food items and medicines are ready.
