P2.14-B damage to agriculture; More than 2 million people affected by ‘Ulysses’

Storm surge warns in Luzon, Metro Manila

The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) has recorded P2.14 Billion in Agriculture damage in region 1,2,3, Calabarzon, region 5 and Cordillera region.

The damage to infrastructure in region 1, MIMAROPA and region 5 is P482.85 million.

So far, 2,074,301 people have been affected in regions 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, region 5 and the Cordillera.

While 69 were killed, 22 in region 2, two in region 3, Calabarzon -17, eight in Region 5, 10 in the Cordillera region and eight in NCR.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana chaired the council meeting this morning to discuss the formation of the Task Force.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) clarified that the agency will continue with their mandate even though Pang. Rodrigo Duterte ordered the formation of a Task Force to expedite the Government’s response to the areas affected by Typhoon Ulysses. .

According to NDRRMC Spokesman Dir. Mark Timbal, they support this order of the President.

Timbal stressed that this is not the time to have competition with various government agencies.

It is also proof of the government’s concerted efforts to restore the lives of those affected by the disaster as soon as possible.
