CEBU CITY – Nearly 300 individuals from Brgy. Ibo, Lapu-Lapu city, after a huge wave hit 76 households.
According to Ibo Brgy. Councilor Leo Yape said the storm surge destroyed houses from the coastal area of Sitio Apro when tropical depression “Vicky” hit Cebu early this morning.
The councilor is now very grateful because the emergency team from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) immediately responded to the affected residents so no one was seriously injured.
City mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, on the other hand, provided immediate assistance to the affected residents such as comfortable beds, food packs and non-food packs and is currently resting at Ibo Elementary School.
Chan is now expediting the construction of a social housing project in Canjulao to provide housing for the affected residents.
