Biden’s victory as the next US president has been confirmed by the electoral college

The electoral college voting for the presidency of the United States has officially ended.

Democrat President-elect Joe Biden got a total of 306 votes while US President Donald Trump garnered 234 votes.

The voting by US electoral colleges from various states lasted more than seven hours.

Vermont, New Hampshire, Indiana and Tennessee previously met and voted while other states restricted by doubling police forces such as Michigan and Georgia.

 

The votes will be taken to Washington DC where Congress will have a joint session on January 6, 2020 chaired by Vice-President Mike Pence.

 

While Biden inaugurated on January 20, 2021.

 

“In America, politicians don’t take power – the people grant it to them,” Biden said in a statement. “The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago. And we now know that nothing – not even a pandemic – or an abuse of power – can extinguish that flame. ”

“If anyone didn’t know it before, we know it now. What beats deep in the hearts of the American people is this: Democracy…. The right to be heard. To have your vote counted. To choose the leaders of this nation. To govern ourselves. ”
