Pope Francis’ Christmas schedule was changed after 2 more cardinals tested positive for COVID

Pope Francis celebrates Simbang Gabi at the Vatican

Pope Francis’ Christmas Day message will only be indoors after two other cardinals tested positive for COVID-19.

As a reminder, it has become a tradition of the Pope to give his “Urbi and Orbi” (To the City and The World) message from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica on December 25.

But due to Italy’s tightened restrictions during Christmas and New Year due to the resurgence of coronavirus cases, the Vatican will follow the rules.

According to a statement from the Vatican, the Pope will deliver his message inside the Hall of Blessings at the Vatican Apostolic Palace.

On December 26 and December 27 and January 1, 3 and 6, recitation of the Angelus prayer will be held at the library.

The Vatican has just confirmed that its closest advisers, Italian Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello, 78, who is the president of the governorate or standing chief executive, have also been hit; and Polish cardinal Konrad Krajewski, also known as “Robin Hood” who oversees the Pope’s charities for the poor.

If you remember, Filipino cardinal Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, who is the Prefect of the Vatican Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, first recovered from COVID.
