It is possible that COVID-19, China’s Sinovac vaccine, will arrive in the Philippines first in the first quarter of next year.
National Task Force against COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., Brazil and Indonesia have already obtained Sinovac supply and we hope to get it next.
At the same time, Sec. Galvez has doubts about the Chinese-made Sinovac because it is said to be safe based on the evaluation of the vaccine expert panel of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
According to Sec. Galvez, the second most likely to reach the country is the vaccine of the Gamaleya Research Institute of Russia.
Sec. Galvez that it is possible that in the third quarter of next year the Philippines will get the vaccine made by Pfizer of America.
It is said that other rich countries have reserved Pfizer’s production line for the first to second quarter of 2021.
Sec. Galvez said that although our government planned early on to buy the vaccine against COVID-19, 80 percent of the global supply of COVID-19 vaccine has been obtained by rich countries because they funded its production so they are only natural the first to supply it.
