Calida is in the top 2 of the highest salaries in the Government

Only Solicitor General Jose C. Calida is on the list of top 10 highest paid government officials who do not work in banks or government owned corporations.

According to the 2019 Report on Salaries and Allowances of the Commission on Audit, Calida earned P16.95 million in 2019 and she is second only to Higinio O. Macadaeg Jr. UCPB president who resigned in July 2019 earning P20.5 million.

In 2018, Calida earned P12.5 million from the government and was sixth on the list.

The third largest revenue earner in the government is Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) governor Benjamin Diokno with a take home pay of P15.4 million in 2019. In 2018, Diokno earned only P3.4 million as secretary of the Department of Budget and Management. Diokno replaced the late BSP governor Nestor Espenilla in March 2019.

Five other BSP members are in the top 10 highest paid in the government: BSP deputy governors (# 5) Maria Almasara Cyd Amador, (# 6) Chuchi Fonacier, (# 7) Dahlia Luna, (# 8) Ma. Ramona Santiago and (# 10) Elmore Capule. Amador and Fonacier earned P14.6 million, Luna and Santiago earned P12.2 million and Capule earned P11.4 million.

Following Diokno is UCPB executive vice president Eulogio Catabran III who earned P15.1 million in 2019 and UCPB Edmond Bernardo with ten with the largest revenue of P11.6 million.

Every year, BSP members are the ones with the highest salaries in government.

Salaries at government banks such as the Development Bank of the Philippines and Land Bank of the Philippines and the Supreme Court Justices are also high.
